Coming June 5th - 2010 Utah Summer Games Keelboat Regatta The Utah Sailing Association and Bonneville School of Sailing invites you to join us Saturday June 5th, 2010 for the Utah Summer Games Keelboat Regatta!
Here is a look at last years Regatta.
June 8th, 2009 We had a fun time on Saturday racing
with a bunch of great sailors in the Second Annual Utah Summer Games Keelboat
Regatta. We appreciate all that Brett Bingham (Utah Summer Games Event
Coordinator) of The Utah Sailing Association has done to set up and run these races on Utah Lake. Thanks for
all your work and for running such a professional Regatta. We also really appreciate everyone
for their participation. We had twice as many boats entered this year! These pictures were taken by Reed
Farnsworth – Thanks Reed! ![]() Starting Line for one of four races. ![]() ![]() ![]()
How
Bay Bea Came Into Our Lives
September 21, 2009 On August 14th Don and Tess joined
us for a Sunset Sail out on Utah Lake. We caught up on each others comings and
goings since they went through our Learn to Sail program last year. So far,
their search for the right boat to buy hadn’t materialized. During our
discussion of what kind of boats they have been looking at, they quizzed us if
we had seen the “50 footer” for sale on KSL.Com. My comment was, a boat like
that was way out of our league, but when I got home on the computer, curiosity
got the better of me. Wow! What was a SORC ocean racing yacht doing in Logan? The
intrigue of this boat kept me sleepless as I tried to fill in the blanks of
who, what, why and where. After finally giving in to the relentless pressure of
answering those questions, I decided to phone the owner… just to answer a few
of those questions. There was no way to purchase the boat now, or store it, or
sail it, or repair it, or transport it or . . . . . anything. After a pleasant conversation with
Dale, who had purchased the boat in Astoria, Oregon and transported it to north
Logan, we began to discover certain parallel thought processes and a great deal
of “commonality”. Before the end of the conversation, I had committed to
viewing the boat as soon as possible, as there were some time sensitive issues
that needed to be addressed. And we have been on a fast track ever since. (more
later on). August 25th – first viewing of boat
in yard in Newton, UT. September 14th – Back in Logan to
move the boat. Transport cancelled due to lightening, high winds and rain. September 15th – 7:45 AM. Back on
track and under a time deadline. UDOT restricts wide load transport from 3:30
PM – 6 PM. Crane getting ready to lift Bay Bea. |
